They may not be as grandly supported as other sports, but they proved they can still bring home the bacon.

 

The University of the Philippines (UP) poomsae jins once again podium-finished as they bagged the bronze in the recently concluded UAAP Season 79 poomsae competition.

They fight but rarely win. This time, it might be a different story.

 

The last championship title the UP Fighting Maroons held was way back in 1997 and the feeling of domination has since became just a memory. UP stayed in the cellar for the longest time, usually having one or no wins at all in an entire UAAP season.

 

Last Sunday, November 6, the Fighting Maroons exceeded expectations coming into the game with four wins- the most they had since Season 69, and gave hope to every Diliman faithful of having that chance to break into the prestigious Final Four once more.

UP students proud of Pep’s decision

The University of the Philippines (UP) Pep Squad will not join the this year’s UAAP Season 79 Cheerdance Competition according to a statement posted on their official Facebook page today, October 26.

 

“Last year was one of the most striking seasons in the history of our team. Finally, we can share the news to those who have been wondering that, regretfully, we will not be part of this season’s UAAP Cheerdance Competition,” it read.
